Mini Movers (Starting October 2019)

RECOMMENDED FOR AGES 18 months-3

In this class we will explore movement and dance – classes are for children 18 months up to the age of 3 years. Music, movement, balance and the basic dance steps are introduced in a fun, friendly and positive manner. This type of class includes mom or dad or another loved one participating in the class along with the little dancer. Our teachers will keep the music and curriculum moving along while parents take an active role in encouraging, supporting and keeping the little dancer on track. *This class will not participate in our Year-End Recital*

Introduction to Dance

RECOMMENDED FOR AGES 3-4

In this class students will have a great time focusing on balance, coordination and rhythmic movement. Building on the basic elements of dance, students will explore movement in class structures that begin to expand on each of these elements (time, dynamics, space, body). Teachers lead activities and introduce dance vocabulary and concepts for ballet, tap and jazz at an age appropriate level to prepare students for future participation in any type of structured dance class. Students may wear any color and type of leotard with transitional dance tights. Dance skirt is optional.  Students will perform one routine in our annual dance recital.  Costume fee is $70*

Combo 2

RECOMMENDED FOR AGES 5 -6 (or completion of Introduction to Dance class)
A 30 minute class that students will become familiar in ballet and tap. Students will perform one routine in our year end dance recital.  Costume fee is $70*

Combo 3 (Ballet/Tap/Acro)

RECOMMENDED FOR AGES 7 – 9 (or completion of Combo 2 class)
A 45 minute class that students will introduce ballet, tap, & tumbling. Students will perform one routine in our year end dance recital. Costume fee is $70*

Combo 4 (Beginner Ballet/Tap/Jazz/Acro)

RECOMMENDED FOR AGES 7 – 9
A 45 minute class that students will introduce ballet, tap, jazz & acro. Students will perform one routine in our year end dance recital. Costume fee is $70*

Jazz

Classes teach basic jazz dance technique, terminology and movement quality with an emphasis on proper execution of jazz isolations, rhythms and style. Jazz is a fun genre of dance that draws on many other styles in forming its technique and expressive styles. Jazz dance uses almost every genre of music, from classic swing and Broadway jazz to current popular music. This is an energetic, dynamic form of dance. Costume fee is approximately $75*

Ballet/Lyrical

Ballet teaches all basic ballet technique including positions of the feet and arms, proper body alignment, turnout, ballet vocabulary, barre exercises, across the floor movements, and center work. Classes will provide students with exercises that build muscle strength, increase flexibility, and provide a foundation that can be applied to all dance styles. While in class, the students are expected to constantly focus their bodies on proper carriage of the torso, arms, and back. Proper ballet attire (black leotard, pink transition tights, pink ballet slippers and hair in a bun) is required.  A dance skirt is optional.  Costume fee is approximately $60*
Lyrical is an expressive technique showcasing an interpretation of music using the fusion of ballet, jazz and modern.  Students will perform one routine in the year end recital.  Costume fee is approximately $70*

Leaps & Turns Technique

Concentrates on the technical aspects of leaping, jumping and turning by teaching a series of jumps, leaps and turns, weight and direction changes. The student develops balance, strength, elevation and body alignment.  This technique class does not perform in the year end recital.

Acro

STUDENTS WILL BE PLACED IN THE APPROPRIATE CLASS AFTER AN EVALUATION.

Focuses on the technical aspects of acrobatics as a compliment to the dance curriculum. We train students in floor tumbling and specialty bending tricks.  Students will perform one routine in the year end recital.  Costume fee is approximately $85*

Beginner Acro (Recommended for ages 7 – 10)

Intermediate/Advanced Acro

Tap

Classes emphasize the development and strengthening of basic tap technique and terminology highlighting the importance of rhythm and sound. These classes work proper technique, sound breakdown and traveling steps. Students will perform one routine in the year end recital.  Costume fee is approximately $80*

Beginner Tap (Recommended for Ages 8-11)

Musical Theater

Class introduces dance forms found in musical theatre, incorporating elements of ballet, tap and jazz. Also a study of acting, voice, and dance moves with emphasis on character study. Learn technique and gain confidence and stage presence. Students will perform one routine in the year end recital. Costume fee is approximately $85*

Total Body Conditioning

Strengthening class designed to increase flexibility and the proper muscles used for core work, extensions and balance.

*Required for those participating in competition.
